we try explaining in layman terms
THEY ARE ACTUALLY WHEELS MANUFACTURING PROCESS
The process technology of the wheels being made

CAST WHEELS
PROCESS
Melted aluminum poured (or drawn in with a vacuum) into a mold which forms the material into the desired wheel shap

Most common manufacturing process
Fastest & Cheapest of all ,Casting is cost‑effective for mass production, requires less specialized equipment than forging, and allows complex designs at lower cost.
different manufacturer have different type of casting eg. Gravity cast, low pressure cast, high pressure casting
FLOW FORMED
Its like a hybrid, It starts from a cast process but create a narrower barrel with that, it is continue by high heat spinning process widening the barrel to the final width & design.
This process of heat and pressure helps strengthen the barrel portion of the wheel.

Different manufacturer have a different name for their flow formed technology, there are different terminology in the industry such as semi forged
Different wheel manufacturer have their flow formed named differntly:
- RAYS named it RAYS CAST FLOW FORMED
- KONIG & ADVANTI RACING named it as DST/MAT
- ENKEI WHEELS named it as MAT
- OZ RACING named it as HLT
- WEDSSPORT named it as AMF
FORGED
Forging a single piece of aluminium into the shape of the wheel rims. Manufactured from a sold piece of solid metal heated to extreme high temperatures and pressurized to shape

Because the process is highly labor‑intensive and requires specialized equipment, forged wheels come at the highest price point, but they also deliver the greatest strength and durability compared to cast or flow‑formed options.
How should i choose my wheels?
Choosing the right wheels really depends on your budget, how you use your car, and the way you drive. If you’re mainly looking for affordability and everyday practicality, cast wheels are the most common choice.
For a balance of strength and lighter weight at a mid‑range price, flow‑formed wheels are popular among Singaporean drivers. And if maximum strength and durability are your priority , especially for high‑performance or racing , forged wheels are the premium option. But with that said, some of the most well‑known and popular wheel models are only manufactured in either flow formed or forged, so availability may also guide your decision.
👉 Refer to the comparison chart below for a clear breakdown of price, availability, and strength across each process.
Of course, aesthetics matter too at the end of the day, wheels are as much about how they look as how they perform. To be honest, most people notice the design first, so it’s worth choosing a style you’ll enjoy seeing on your car every day.
