These differences make proper handling and fitment more critical, requiring a tyre specialist to be well-informed, properly trained and meticulous to ensure safety, performance and the vehicle's intended driving characteristics are maintained.
Tyres for EVs Are Different
In general, EVs are heavier due to the additional battery pack. Not all tyres are load-compatible with your EV, and using the wrong tyres can compromise handling, safety, and tyre lifespan.
EVs deliver full torque from standstill. This creates rapid wear at the contact patch on standard compounds. EV tyres use harder reinforced compounds specifically engineered for this wear pattern.
Without engine noise, road noise becomes much more noticeable inside the cabin. EV-focused tyres are designed with optimised tread patterns and construction to help reduce noise and improve overall driving comfort.
Rolling resistance directly affects driving range. The wrong tyre can reduce your EV's range by 5–15%. We only recommend tyres with verified low rolling resistance ratings for EV use.

EV battery packs are commonly positioned beneath the vehicle floor, making proper lifting procedures especially important. Tyre specialists are trained to identify the correct jacking points for different EV models and determine whether additional procedures or specialised equipment are required to ensure the vehicle is handled safely.
Battery SafetyModern EVs rely heavily on accurate TPMS readings for safety monitoring and system alerts. During tyre replacement, proper handling of the TPMS sensors is important to avoid unnecessary warning lights or incorrect readings. We handle the sensors carefully during every fitment and knowledgable whether TPMS reset or relearn procedure is required for your vehicle.
TPMS HandlingA rim or tyre that fits physically does not mean it is load-rated for an EV's weight. We check every tyre and rim meets or exceeds the manufacturer's specified load index for your exact EV model.
Load Rating CheckNot every rim that fits an EV hub is safe. Centre bore diameter, offset tolerance, and load rating must all be verified. We've seen fitments that looked correct but were outside manufacturer safety tolerances — a risk we won't take.
Rim CompatibilityWheel bolt torque specifications differ between EV and ICE models, and vary between EV. Leave it to us to ensure the proper torque for your EV.
Correct TorqueDue to the additional vehicle weight and instant torque delivery, EV tyres can experience uneven wear at a faster rate. Regular tyre rotation helps promote more even wear, maintain driving comfort, optimise tyre lifespan and support overall efficiency. We can track your mileage intervals, ensuring tyre rotation is carried out at the appropriate time for your vehicle.

What we check before fitting any rim on an EV
- Load index — Wheels for your EV must be compatible with the load. We know the compatible load rating for your vehicle.
- Centre bore diameter — Centre bore alignment is often overlooked during installation, yet it is critical for proper hub-centric fitment. With EV models constantly evolving across brands and generations, we place strong emphasis on ensuring correct hub compatibility and fitment integrity for smooth, vibration-free performance.
- TPMS compatibility — sensors must be transferred to new rims and recalibrated. We handle this as standard.
- Offset tolerance — EVs have tighter suspension tolerances than ICE cars. Incorrect offset affects handling and wheel bearing life in addition in align to SINGAPORE LTA regulations
- OEM tyre size matching — when you change rim size, tyre profile must be adjusted to maintain correct rolling diameter, or speedometer and range readings are affected.
